Early treatment, treatments in childhoodIn early childhood (4-6 years of age), we intervene very rarely. In this age the aim any intervention is to ensure the harmonic growth of dental jaws. This can be fulfilled by some types of removable, or specific fixed appliances. Sometimes we recommend exercises at speech therapist, in order to balance the work of both intra-oral and extra oral muscles. We try to keep this treatment phase very short, in order to ensure the comfort of the child. Although with this treatment phase we put the growth onto a harmonic track, there is a chance of further treatment later during the change of teeth. These interventions are called very early treatments. In late mixed dentition age (6-10 years of age) the aim of intervention is also to ensure the harmonic growth of dental arches, jaws and to ensure the eruption of permanent teeth. In this age there are several appliances to select from. Different types of removable, or partial, sometimes specifically designed fixed braces can be used. These treatments can last 6-18 months and sometimes are followed by full fixed treatments when all the permanent teeth are in the mouth. These treatments are called early treatments For more information on early treatments, please click here!
